Sunday Morning Education

May 30 - Aug. 15 9 a.m. Sunday School.

All children 3yrs. to 4th grade will meet in the Garden of Eden for a combined class. This summer we are continuing the Angel Pins Mission Project and our focus charity is the ERD fund. The money raised will help build shelters for the parishioners of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port au Prince Haiti. For mor information on the shelters please visit the Diocese website, there is a link under the "link" tab on this site.. We will also be learning about the Fruits of the Spirit. Each week we will go in depth on one of the fruits. Children will learn bible verses that go with each fruit. We will also have special projects for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Begining in September 2010 children age 3 thru 2nd grade will be invited to experience Godly Play. This curriculum offers a creative, child-honoring way of entering into and experiencing the biblical story. In Godly Play, we will play with the language of God and God's People: our sacred stories, parables, liturgical actions and silence. Through this powerful language, through our wandering, through the community of players gathered together, we hear the deepest invitation of all: an invitation to come play with God. Children will experience this in 3 different classrooms, 3 and 4 year olds will be together in The Shepherd's Nook, 5k, Primer and 1st grade will be together and 2nd grade will have a classroom by tthemselves. Children in 3rd and 4th grades will also begin a new curriculm which will help them to grow spiritually developing their relationship with God, learn how to turn their faith into aaction, and more. The curriculum for 3rd and 4th grade is still in development, look for updated informtion later in the summer.

Depending on the church calendar, the children become involved in high feast days by celebrating with a party or possibly making things that can be distributed to others within our parish and community. Vacation Bible School is always an adventure for the children. Our entire church community comes together to help with this week-long production so the children are able to meet new faces, as well as have a great time learning about Jesus.

It is our goal to teach the children to trust and deepen their relationship with Christ through hands-on learning. We strive to create a comfortable atmosphere for all ages and invite you to join us.
