From August 2003 until coming to Tyler, Dr. Jerry Davidson served as Music Director for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Orleans and as Visiting Professor of Music at Loyola University in New Orleans where he had taught since 1999. From 1999-2003 Dr. Davidson held a similar position as Organist and Choirmaster for Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Hammond, Louisiana.

Prior to Grace Church, he was O/C at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he served as director of the Community Band, the Hot Springs/Arkadelphia Bach Choir and Orchestra, and in Hot Springs Village directed the Cedar Mountain Singers and was music director for the Village Players.

A member of ASCAP, his prior positions have included the Chair of the Music Department of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Associate Dean of the School of Music of Louisiana State University. A frequent contributor to music journals and an active composer, he is a graduate of Northwestern University, Union Theological Seminary, and the University of Arkansas and has served four chapters as dean. He holds the AAGO and ChM degrees from the American Guild of Organists and served as State Convenor for Arkansas. In 1996 he was one of seven semifinalists for the National Competition in Organ Improvisation.

On the lighter side, he is a member of ACE, the American Coaster Enthusiasts (who enjoy riding roller coasters) and plays duplicate bridge when he gets a chance.

Jerry is married to the Very Rev. Susan L. Davidson, and they have two sons, one grandson and two granddaughters.
