Outreach

T. J. Austin Elementary

Christ Church and T. J. Austin Elementary partner during the year on various ministries for the children and parents of T. J. Austin Elementary.

Community of Christ

Habitat for Humanity of Smith County is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteers and community support, we build simple, affordable homes for deserving partner families. The partner families have shown the need for adequate housing, having the means to repay the 20-year, no-interest mortgage, and are willing to use their own "sweat equity" (300-500 volunteer hours) to build their home and the homes of other families.

Please contact Vance Garvey at 903-597-9854, or e-mail at vgarvey@christchurchtyler.org, for the latest project and information.

Loaves & Fishes

Every Thursday night at 6:00 p.m., people of all walks of life are welcome to eat a hearty meal free of charge in the Parish Hall of Christ Church. Five teams of faithful volunteers prepare and serve a meal to those in need. Four of the teams serve once a month. The youth of Christ Church make the fifth team in the months with five Thursdays. Loaves & Fishes is a rewarding outreach ministry that allows us to feed the hungry while strengthening our bond with fellow parishioners. If you enjoy cooking, can carry a plate and fill a drink cup, please consider this ministry. You will find yourself on the receiving end of Christ's generosity. For more information, please call Lynne Short at 903.597.9854.

Christ Church Carpenter's Guild

Saturday, September 26, members of the Carpenter's Guild built a wheelchair ramp for Mr. Ellis and his family of Red Spring. Mr. Ellis made his need known at Bethesda Clinic, and clinic volunteer, Laurel Beaty, passed this information on to her husband, Clyde. Thanks to Clyde and Laurel Beaty, Tom Ridley and Carter Wilson for offering their gifts of construction to the Ellis family.
