
Deacon
Stine graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics
from Texas Tech University in 1972 and a Master of Arts degree
in History from The University of Memphis in 1996. He received
the graduate diploma from The Stonier Graduate School of Banking
at Rutgers University in 1980 and is finishing the dissertation
to complete the Doctor of Philosophy degree in History from The
University of Memphis. Deacon Stine worked for twenty-three
years in the banking field before becoming a college instructor
in 1995. Since 1998 he has served as a full-time instructor
of history, economics, and government at Tyler Junior College.
Deacon Stine married his wife Laurie Dowell, owner of Arise
Prosthetics Clinic in Tyler, in 1999. His son Daniel Stine
graduated in 2004 from The University of Texas at Austin and is
an engineer with TRC Corporation in Houston.
Ordained
as a perpetual deacon in 1986, Deacon Stine joined the clerical
staff of Christ Church in 1998 after service in the Dioceses of
the Rio Grande and West Tennessee. In addition to his liturgical
and preaching duties, he is the coordinator of pastoral ministries
for the parish and supervises the lay eucharistic visitors and
pastoral assistants. He teaches the adult inquirer's classes
and leads regular adult classes on Sunday mornings and through
the Wednesdays Together program.
